FAO’s Ombuds team asked Shiftbalance to help build a resilient, internal network of Respectful Workplace Advisors: staff based across continents who could handle sensitive workplace situations constructively, without always needing to escalate to a central team. Over three years, Shiftbalance trained and coached more than 150 FAO employees in non-violent communication, psychological safety, and conflict resolution.

The result is a distributed community equipped to act as a first line of support inside FAO offices worldwide, a model Shiftbalance has since referenced in similar internal-network programmes for other UN agencies.
